One day while visiting my Grandma I decided to take a drive down the Lawrence River. One of my favourite activities is to sit at the River side and pray. On this particular occasion I went to an open parking lot just in front the River and I sat there still. While I sat I was absolved in the beauty of the moment, knowing that God was before all things. This was a very special moment because I share a very close relationship with the river. Some of my most beautiful dreams have been beside the clear glistening waters. It is like my soul finds courage in the deep.
The Lawrence River is located in the Province of Quebec (Canada). It is a massive water body that connects the Great Lakes with the Atlantic Ocean. This river has been a very important part of the commerce and travel between Canadian Provinces and even Canada and the United States. This was one of the many times I had gone to this river just to unwind and contemplate.
Being the writer that I am, I began to write. As I wrote I found that the Lawrence River was like a minister of God. It was speaking to me about the great majesty of our King. This abundant flow of water taught me many lessons about life and God. It taught me about the importance of delving beneath the surface. Imagine that the majority of the river was unseen. How deep was such abundant flow?
I took the opportunity to write this poem I’m about to share. May it bless you with hope that our big and Mighty God is much more mighty than this flow. In fact He is the architect behind such a work. Here we go.
The Lawrence River
The currents, I saw them with the waves.
When the wind swept its surface, I beheld the raves.
Just like our Mighty Warrior, it whispered dominion,
I Saw the growl of the rage whilst the flint of the sun.
While I stood where I stood, the birds sang a song
Down by the River side is where His glory’s strong.
And the currents splashed on the face of my heart.
When the skies absolved the space, I saw His art.
By the Lawrence River, here I delved a little deeper,
I was lifted high, but I found His grace is steeper.
And His mercy abounds than the depths of the deeps,
And the currents I found surrender when He speaks.
His speech was very load, as the roar of the Lion,
When The Lawrence growled, I was taken up to Zion.
I was bold By the river where my soul Dived the deep,
Christ is my deliverer and over serpents I will leap.
May you be blessed down the river, by the river side,
And withstand the course of turbulence, as you glide.
By the Lawrence River I’ve found His presence abides,
When my soul toured the river, His love was open wide.

Concluding Thoughts
The Bible says that “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” What I found by the Lawrence was that water exemplifies God in a very great way. I was humbled to believed that the God who made the river is ever present with me.
As you go, may you allow the water of the Spirit to flow through you. May it be like an anointing oil that will be sufficient for you and for many others. God bless you.
